Steven Yeun Sang-yeop (born December 21, 1983) is a Korean-American actor. He is best known for his role as Glenn Rhee in the AMC horror television series The Walking Dead (2010–2016), for which he received four Saturn Award nominations. Yeun has also starred in the films Burning (2018), Minari (2020), and Nope (2022).
Yeun was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States with his family when he was five years old. He grew up in Troy, Michigan, and attended Kalamazoo College, where he studied psychology. After graduating from college, Yeun moved to Chicago to pursue a career in acting.
Yeun began his acting career in theater, appearing in productions at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and the Second City. He made his television debut in 2009 with a small role in the NBC series ER. In 2010, he was cast as Glenn Rhee in The Walking Dead. Yeun's performance as Glenn was praised by critics, and he quickly became a fan favorite. He remained on the show for six seasons, leaving in 2016.
In addition to his work on The Walking Dead, Yeun has also starred in a number of films. In 2014, he appeared in the films I Origins and The Interview. In 2018, he starred in the South Korean film Burning, which was critically acclaimed. In 2020, he starred in the American film Minari, for which he received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor. In 2022, he starred in the Jordan Peele film Nope.
